Navigators is essentially the large group element to the faith formation program.  Once every few weeks one grade level gets together to sing, dance, play crazy games, watch a home-made video, and listen to a speaker.  Nav nights are specific to one grade per night, except for a couple instances when we invite all grades to assemble and participate together.

While the program is for Jr. high,  the Sr. high kids play a crucial role in the planning, organization, and execution of the nights.  The themes skits, videos, and music are usually all decided and assembled by the Sr. high kids.  I would guess that many of the Sr. high leaders would say that they have more fun as leaders than they did as kids :)

The main purpose for Navigator nights is to incorporate active participation in faith with the lesson based initiative in our faith formation classes.  In addition, it's great to get high school kids involved in Jr. high kids' lives.  Our hope is that many or most of the kids who experienced navigator nights will eventually want to be Navigator leaders.
