Compass

Our main senior high ministry at St. Pat's is Compass.  At the beginning of sophomore year, right after confirmation, kids have the choice to form a small group of their peers and others that they may not know as well.  The purpose of the group is to discuss various issues and how they relate to life and faith, and each group is assigned two adult leaders to help facilitate discussion and help the kids grow in faith. They first meet in the club room for music, a speaker or video, and then go off to separate fooms for small group.

We say that there are three C's to Compass : Confidentiality, Commitment, and Christ-centered. These are the principals that make the groups work.

Groups meet on Monday nights from 7:30-9pm in various rooms at St. Pat's.  There are a variety of Monday's throughout the year when groups will not meet for one reason or another, but it's pretty consistent.

Navigators

Nav is essentially the large group element to the junior high faith formation program. Once every few weeks one grade level gets together to sing, dance, play crazy games, watch a skit, and listen to a speaker (Navigators help execute all of this). A Nav Leader needs to be committed to doing this hard but important work just about every Wednesday night from 7:00-8:45pm.

Nav Leadership Team

New this year: In addition to Nav Leaders, there will be a Nav Leadership Team of about 8-12 people (juniors and seniors only). This group will be responsible for coordinating the Nav leaders as well as planning and executing all the Nav Nights, Closing Clubs, and retreats. To be a part of this important group you will need to be creative, responsible, reliable, a good role model, possess strong leadership skills, and be able to make this a priority on Wednesday nights. You will need to fill out the application found at youth.stpatrick-edina.org and have it turned in by Friday, September 9th.

Religious Education

Our faith formation program runs from 1st through 9th grade, beginning esentially with first communion and ending with confirmation. While this is the more formal aspect of our ministry, it is complimented nicely with weekly prayer services, navigator nights, retreats, and drop-ins.

Classes meet most weeks on Wednesdays. The times depend on what grade the child is in.

Please contact Chery Wood if you need additional information about Faith Formation classes.
